A strong love of colour and pattern underpins any process Caro embarks upon. She starts with working outside with sketchbooks to draw and gather information, working in neocolour crayons, fineliner, ink, gouache and pencil, backed up by photography and a bursting clip file of found materials. The use of typography and writing in her work is a consistent theme. The hybrid possibilities of traditional analogue printmaking techniques and new digital technologies is another focus.

In the past year, setting up a studio at the St George’s Studios on the Isle of Portland with a screenprinting vacuum table and British-made etching, lino and collograph press, has allowed a return to hands-on printmaking.

Caro's initial love of printmaking, first fostered on a Art Foundation course at the beautiful Shelley Park in Bournemouth, veered (a few years’ later) into a Graphic Design & Multimedia HND. After an enjoyable period spent as a Design Technician helping students with screenprinting, the mysteries of Adobe software, lasercutting and film editing, she is now concentrating on developing her own practice in tandem with graphic design work.

When not designing or making, Caro likes to spend time with her two lovely daughters and patient husband. She also loves a good book, afternoon napping, live comedy and swimming in the sea.
